For over 30 years, Lebanon imported more than 80% of its food, which had a devastating impact on rural communities. Today, with the halting of imports and international donations, food scarcity hit its peak in the country.
With a nowhere near self-sufficient economic model, our only solution is to return to the land. This is where our agro-farming project launched in February 2020 plays a major role in providing healthy, diversified, and organic free food to our families of elderly and children.
With an aim to sustain our food aid program, our project allows us to produce 150 kgs of dairy products a day, 18 tons of organic fruits and vegetables, and 2 tons of honey a year, all distributed free of charge to our beneficiaries. To ensure this sustainability, we use organic farming methods and follow permaculture practices that allow us to sustain our families with healthy food while reviving environmentally-friendly ancestral methods and encouraging the optimization of local natural resources.

Furthermore, our farm in Qartaba includes a hygienic kitchen for food transformations that we were able to renovate thanks to a donor’s support to comply with the hygiene standards for industrial/commercial kitchens. Equipped with high-standard material and professional equipment, this kitchen allows us to transform our organic fruits and vegetables into jams, juices, molasses, sauces, and other forms of conserves that we can distribute all year long to our beneficiaries, especially in periods of low outdoor production.

Our team also participates in workshops with other Lebanese farmers to produce local heirloom seeds in Lebanon, in line with our efforts to rely on our own natural resources and work with seeds that are best adapted to our climate, which will help us reap healthy food. We also dedicate time to innovate formulas and solutions that help us protect our crops from diseases and fertilize them using natural and local ingredients only.
In line with our mission to create scalable and sustainable models that inspire communities, we make sure that our know-how is shared with the communities around us. By partnering with young Lebanese farmers, we empower youth in rural areas, while spreading awareness on organic farming methods to nearby villages.
