OUR FARMS
To support the biggest number of families in need, our only solution was to resort to sustainable agriculture. The sequential governments that impoverished Lebanon had no vision of a sustainable productive nation: Lebanon imports 80% of its food, and produces less than 10% of its needs in grains. With no access to foreign currency, the risk of food shortage is very high and the country is nowhere near self-sufficiency. Our agriculture project, which spans over donated lands in Baklush, Qartaba and Bekaa, allows us to grow grains, vegetables and fruits using ancestral permaculture techniques, in addition to having our own farms where we produce 150 kgs of dairy products a day, 1000 eggs a week, 18 tons of organic fruits and vegetables and 2 tons of honey a year, all distributed free of charge to our elderly and children. Our agro-farming project sets an example today through its organic farming methods and permaculture practices, supplying our families with healthy food while reviving environmentally-friendly ancestral methods and encouraging the optimization of local natural resources. In parallel, and in the aim of becoming sustainable, we also launched our own line of fresh organic food products “Kanz” that we export, all the whilst creating jobs that empower women in rural areas.
